LIVE! At the Neville

 LIVE! at the Neville

The "Live at the Neville" concerts combine two of the best elements of music: live, world-class   musicians and an intimate setting. The concerts are set up in a large side room off the main theater at the beautiful, historic Fox Theater in downtown North Platte, Nebraska. The venue is comfortable and casual, perfect for an audience of 100 people or so. We're thinking that, if we can regularly sell more than 200 tickets, we could use the main theater and seat only in the center aisle seats, but we don't want to lose the intimacy of the format either. If we get to the point where we're selling that many seats, it will be a happy problem to have to solve.

Our thoughts as a live music venue was that we could be kind of a stop-over venue on what otherwise would be down nights for acts traveling between Denver and Omaha, or going west from Kansas City, or whatever. Our guess was that there were lots of hugely talented musicians whose music would be welcomed in our town with open arms who were regularly driving by North Platte on I-80 who would rather stop for a night and play, make a few bucks, sell a few CDs, and expose some new fans to their music rather than get to the next stop on the tour with 2 or 3 nights to kill waiting for the next show.

The format for show nights is casual and nothing if not flexible. Generally speaking, drinks and maybe something light to eat are followed by a local performer sharing his/her/their talent. Then the main attraction takes the stage. The featured artists are singer/songwriter acts performing primarily original music that would probably be labeled "folk" or "Americana" music by those who lean toward labeling. They play their music in our acoustic setting and interact with the crowd – stories and jokes and observations and good fun. It is a real thrill for us to be part of the expanding network of intimate venues preferred by these traveling troubadours for performances of their powerful, beautiful music.

We are trying to do word-of-mouth, email list, website, and mostly "free media" marketing of the shows to keep advertising cost, and ticket costs, down. If you are interested, please send us your email address to

 brette@northplattecommunityplayhouse.org

so we can inform you of upcoming shows. Our vision is that we will build an email list that includes everyone in our area interested in live music in an intimate setting and use that and our website, www.northplattecommunityplayhouse.org, as our primary marketing to regularly do a concert every 6 weeks to 2 months, maybe more often if things kick in.
