Auditions
Auditions for Godspell, a musical based on the gospel of St. Matthew, will be August 25 and 26 at 7 p.m. in the Patty Birge Room of the North Platte Community Playhouse at the Neville Center, 301 East Fifth.
Dates of the show are October 3, 4, 5, 11, and 12, with evening performances on one Friday and two Saturdays and matinees on two Sundays.
Anne Schmit, director, commented that this is a high energy show that requires "some strong singers, some strong actors, and some dancers." Schmit emphasized that they don't all need to be the same people and they don't all need to be under 30.
Everyone auditioning for the show should come prepared with a song that demonstrates his or her singing ability.
Conceived and originally directed by John-Michael Tebelak, with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, "Godspell" is one of the biggest successes of all time. It opened off-Broadway in 1971 and transferred to Broadway in 1976, running for 2,124 performances off-Broadway and 527 on Broadway
"Godspell" includes several well-loved songs, led by the international hit, "Day By Day." As the cast performs "Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord," "Learn Your Lessons Well," "All for the Best," "All Good Gifts," "Turn Back, O Man" and "By My Side," the parables of Jesus Christ come to life.
More information is available by calling Schmit at 534-9682 or Brette Covington at 532-8559.
